Day #30 Journal Prompt

Details: Paint a Betta fish inside a fishbowl.

Message: Did you know that unlike most fish, Betta fish can breathe air! They have a labyrinth bladder, allowing them to take air from the above the water’s surface.

It’s actually why you shouldn’t fill your fishbowl all the way to the top. Betta fish who do not use their labyrinth bladder can fall ill. Always leaving a gap at the top of your tank allows them to breathe from the surface.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel like I’m living in a fishbowl, struggling to breathe! With this pandemic, being pregnant, and having one antsy, hyper almost two year old, in the middle of winter, is making me want to explode sometimes! I bet you can relate!

Creating in my art journal is like a breath of fresh air. I can be outside without even stepping foot outside. I can connect with all kinds of animals from across the globe using my wild imagination. I can also work through any negative thoughts and emotions in a much more comfortable way. Being intentional about feeling them and expressing them creatively, not trying to ignore or run from them.

Dear friend, I hope you can continue art journaling! I pray this can be something you add to your “pick-me-up” toolkit instead of turning to worry, or fear, or rage, or laziness, or loneliness, or addiction. Whatever you’re struggling with right now…Yes you CAN do anything with faith as small as a mustard seed. Don’t stop now, breakthrough is on it’s way!

Paint Colors: Raw Sienna, Sky Blue, Black, White, Cadmium Yellow, Violet.

Other Supplies: Small flat brush, medium flat brush, rigger or liner brush, paint palette, cup of water, cloth.
