Day #25 Journal Prompt
Details: Draw and paint a fawn!
Message: Did you know fawns spend the majority of their time in hiding for the first month of life. Until they reach six weeks, fawns just sit alone only seeing mom for 2-3 feedings around dawn and dusk. Mother deer (does) will stay away from the fawns to avoid leading predators to their young.
Imagine how lonely little baby fawns must feel. They enter a scary world with hardly any interactions with mom, left all alone for weeks, forced to sit perfectly still. Although it seems harsh, mother does are actually waiting too! She waits until her offspring are strong enough to keep up with her, especially running away from predators.
Yesterday we spoke about the harsh deserts of life. Many of us are in one right now just waiting like baby fawns. Not knowing what will happen next or when our circumstances will change. We’ll did you ever think this “waiting period” may actually be protecting you from something?
We may not see it now, or for awhile, but this waiting period could actually be what we need for that new job, or promotion, or new baby on the way. Like little fawns sitting still in the wilderness, this time of “stillness” could actually be preparing us, growing us, and strengthening us for great things to come. Giving us what we need - the confidence, patience, or endurance - to face even harder challenges. I know I say this alot, but expect great things and great things WILL indeed come!
Paint Colors: Cadmium Yellow, Orange, Phthalocyanine Blue, Yellow Ochre, Raw Sienna, Black, White, Crimson Red.
Other Supplies: Small flat brush, medium flat brush, round detail brush or liner brush, cup for water, paint palette, cloth, painters tape. All materials and brands are listed HERE.
Instructions: After you complete this creative prompt, use the left side to write down the questions shown below this tutorial. I encourage you to write inside your art journal using your favorite pens, pencils, or markers. Once you’ve completed both sections, post/send just your drawing/painting for a chance to win. NOTE: If you’re left handed, switch the side you plan to paint and write on.
Daily Prayer: Dear Father, we thank you for this waiting period. Although it feels long, dry, and harsh, we know it’s going to lead to something GREAT! Give us what we need in this season so we can not only learn, but ENJOY life right now. Help us to hold on tight to all these lessons that are preparing us for the next step. Thank you Jesus, Amen.
