The beautiful and ugly reality of being a human is… you and I are far from perfect.

For me, it feels like every new season of life surfaces new weaknesses and new pride that I didn’t realize was there. Hard, messy, dark parts of my heart that desperately needs the light to shine on it.

I’m learning right now that pride keeps me stuck, blind, and looking like a fool. My pride tries to appear strong, confident, and self-sufficient; boasting in the great things I can do, but then hides the flaws and covers up the sticky messes.

The funny thing is God see’s all of it and yet has immense compassion and love for me! That’s because God loves His people FAR MORE than his commands! He sent Jesus to die the most painful, gruesome death so that you and I don’t have to be perfect!

So instead…if I am going to boast (as Prophet Paul once said), I will boast about what God is doing in my life through my mess ups. I’ll brag about how loving and patient God is with me, even when I continue to stumble. He’s not expecting us to be perfect, but He is calling us to stay humble and seek Him through it all.
