Did you know during hibernation a bear's heart rate will drop to as low as four to five beats per minute? Bears do not actually sleep the entire time, but their body temperature, pulse rate, and respiration slows down dramatically. All to help them survive without food, water, and no potty breaks during a long winter.

That’s why it’s vital for a bear to stock up on tons of food and water during the fall months. Primarily eating nuts and berries and making dens. Bears will go to great lengths to ensure they stock up on the right fuel to help them endure the long, challenging season ahead.

What a great lesson we can take from bears! We cannot avoid every harsh seasons or setback, but we can still savor the good times while also preparing and planning for hard times ahead.
