The beautiful and ugly reality of being a human is we all fall short. We all make mistakes. We all have things we’re not proud of from our past.

For me, it feels like every new season of life surfaces new weaknesses, new challenges, and new pride. Hard, messy, dark parts of my heart that desperately needs the light to shine on it.

Pride keeps me stuck. Pride tries to appear strong and self-sufficient; boasting in the great things I can do, but then hides the flaws and shame.

If you feel shame today for your mistakes, guess what, God loves his people FAR MORE than his commands! We can repent today and immediately receive forgiveness! Jesus died the most painful, gruesome death so that you and I can be free of shame and ALL sin.

So instead…if I am going to boast (as Prophet Paul once said), I will boast about what God is doing in my life through my mess ups. I’ll brag about how loving and patient God is with me even when I continue to stumble. He’s not expecting us to be perfect, but he is calling us to stay humble and seek Him in our mistakes.
