Day #8 Journal Prompt

Details: Paint a longhorn highland cow.

Message: Without a doubt, the shaggy, just-out-of-bed-hair, teddy bear look of a highland cow makes them incredibly adorable. These features, however, enable them to survive harsh winters in really tough environments. Their thick woolly undercoats keep them warm, while the longer guard hairs shed snow and rain. Long eyelashes and a thick fringe protects their eyes from stinging hail, lashing rain, insects, and biting winds. They even use their big horns to rake away snow in order to get to food.

It always amazes me that huge animals like highland cows and small little birds are taken care of, even in unpredictable weather and climates. “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.” - Matthew 6:26. Seeing how well protected and fed these animals are AND year round reminds me how safe I truly am, even in hard times. It gives me permission to rest and relax knowing the Lord cares, provides, and protects me in every season, just like the animals of the earth.

Daily Prayer: Father I lift up every single need of every single creative in this challenge. Every need matters to you, no matter how small or big! Give them rest in this time of so many unknowns. Hope for the future instead of dread. Help them to rest at night knowing that you care and WILL provide all their needs at the right time just as you do for the animals of the earth. Thank you Father, amen.
