Day #13 Journal Prompt

Details: Draw an elephant like a child! Yep, today we’re actually trying to draw like second graders.

Message: Can you remember waking up as a child and being so excited to play? I have memories of waking up each morning to color with crayola markers on computer paper I’d find in my parents office. I would also climb tall trees so I could see what it looked like from far away AND see what animals I could spot in the sky. Life was all about exploration and play.

Art should be the same way! An exciting new experience and space to freely explore with our childlike imaginations and wonder. Not focusing on making things look perfect, or meeting deadlines, or being the best, but simply experiencing art. Today as you draw, go back to being a child again. Remember what it’s like to be still.

Other Supplies: Graphite pencil and/or Micron 05 pen. All materials and brands are listed HERE.

Instructions: After you complete this creative prompt, use the left side to write down the questions shown below this tutorial. I encourage you to write inside your art journal using your favorite pens, pencils, or markers. Once you’ve completed both sections, post/send just your drawing/painting for a chance to win. NOTE: If you’re left handed, switch the side you plan to paint and write on.

Daily Prayer: Dear Father, as I’m writing this prompt I feel so so SO fortunate to be able to encourage and guide these creatives to be more like children. To let go, be still, and explore art! What a sense of freedom and peace that brings. I pray that we remember and cherish the beautiful parts of our childhood, handing you the other parts we would rather forget. Take our worries Father and continue fighting our battles so we don’t have too. Keep us permanent children, haha! Amen.
