#022 | 365-Creative Quiet Time: Odds and Ends

#022 Odds and Ends

I did a few changes to Jude’s portrait last night. I definitely think it’s finished now! What do you think? It’s going to sit for a week to dry before varnishing. It looks like late next week I’ll ship this one off to it’s owner.

I also finished Queen froggie. I just couldn’t let that leaf be. I needed to add a little indent in the center. Now I’m content with it!

Not Wasting Trials

I’ve heard it said, “Change is constant and sometimes permanent, but our own change is optional,” What a powerful quote.

Go back in history and we can find many, many strong male and female leaders who chose to rise up during incredibly challenging times. It’s stress that pushed them to choose wisdom.

We also know more about the brain today than ever before! Like how plastic and malleable the brain really is, and at any age. Our current mental state is NOT permanent. We can in fact create new pathways at any point in life just by renewing our mind and taking each thought captive! Science tells us we really do have the capacity to change!

The praise and prayer I have for today is that I get to choose how I respond to change. I don’t want to waste ANY trials I face in life by coming out of it them exactly the same! I truly do NOT want to be more anxious or mean or impatient as I get older, but more kind, humble, generous, and loving. Lord help me to actually be transformed for the good, growing in wisdom inside of fear, and permanently!

Today’s verse comes from the book of Romans.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
— Romans 12:2

Daily Creative Quiet Time

Here I go! All through 2022 I’ll be sharing my daily creative quiet time routine. I’ll shoot for 10-minutes a day (at least) progressing through a Commission, or an Online Animal Art Masterclass tutorial, or a Youtube tutorial, or artwork for Collectors.

For me the creative process involves more than just colorful paint, it’s an act of praise and worship. I chose the phrase “Confidence in the Lord” as my art/life focus for the year. I plan to pull colorful inspiration from bible verses, the valuable lessons of life, and the vibrant paint I get my hands on! Now lets paint.
